Hier mein erstes Kleintier mit welchem ich voll zufrieden bin. Eigentlich komme ich ja eher aus der 2K Modelliermassenecke. Ein solches Modell wird traditionell aus Wachs modelliert. Der Nachteil bei 2K Massen ist das sie aushärten während damit modelliert. So ist es schwer eine einheitliche Textur auf die Figur zu bekommen. Bei Toywachs ist die Bearbeitungsweise ein Problem. Dieses geschieht entweder "schnitzend" oder mit einem Wachspen (Lötkolbenähnlich). Die Lösung liegt nah. Einfach die Modelle aus Sculpy modellieren. Ich persönlich komme mit Sculpy nicht wirklich klar. Es gibt da zu viele Randparameter welche das Modellieren damit schwer machen.
Daher kam ich auf die "symbiontische" Idee eine Polymasse zu entwickeln mit besseren Modelliereigenschaften. Das erste Ergebnis sieht man hier.

Als ausgesprochener Freund von Molosser-Hunden gibt es jetzt ein WIP eines Bully-Rüden. Der kleine ist wieder aus der neuen BEES-Polyclay (Arbeitstitel) modelliert.Wenn ich es schaffe den fertig zu modellieren, werde ich eine limitierte Auflage rausbringen...

Es macht mir richtigen Spass mit der neuen Masse zu arbeiten. Die einzige Vorbereitung die es bedarf ist eine Drahtschlaufe und ein Korken. Modelliermasse raus und der Kreativität freien lauf lassen. Gerne nehme ich mal ein paar Ideen auf was ich meinenm Büstenwahn mit einbauen könnte. Nachdem ich ein Feenmädchen modelliert habe versuche ich mich weiter an Tieren. Deshalb ein Pferdekopf im Entstehen. Den Kopf der Bordauxdogge ist mitlerweile gebacken und wurde mit einem weichen Borstenpinsel poliert, so erhält man ein wachsartiges "Finish". Ich spiele auch mit dem Gedanken mal ein Video darüber zu machen, "THE JOY OF SCULPTING" ... dann brauche ich aber noch eine Afroperücke...

Hallo, ich habe lange nichts hier gepostet - weil es fast nichts zu posten gab...
Na ja wie dem auch sei - Ich möchte in Zukunft wieder mal versuchen hier ein wenig aktiver zu sein.

Ich beschäftige mich seit einiger Zeit verschärft mit abbackbaren Polykneten (Sculpy Fimo, Premo, Cernit, Uro usw). Leider erfüllt für mich KEINE wirklich die Eigenschaften welche ich von einer guten formbaren Masse erwarte. Meine Erwartung ist das ich die Masse in das von mir gewünsche Volumen bringe ohne das ich mich mit irgendwelchen zickereien der der Masse rumärgern muss. Als da wären - Matschigkeit -Nachwippen - Klebt wie Pech - Totale Unklebrigkeit - Nein ich halte auf keinem Untergrund - Nach dem abbacken bin ich voll rissig...

Wie das Leben so spielt bin ich durch einen Zufall welcher der Mike von Cryptlock zu verschulden hat :-), auf ein Netzwerk von deutschen Firmen aufmerksam geworden welche sich genau mit diesem Thema beschäftigen. Eigendlich habe ich in den letzen Jahren das nur so kennengelernt: "Sie wollen Knete produzieren !?! Was das !?! Gibts schon - aber wir können Ihnen eineMischung in unserem kleinen 10t Mischer anbieten". 10t ? 10000kg !?!, das wären ja nur ca. 180000 Packungen Fimo die kann ich als one-man-show mal ebend unters Volk bringen...

Egal - Auf jeden Fall bin ich dran eine ofenhärtende Masse auf PVC-Basis mitzuentwickeln die auf die Bedürfnisse von Modellierern zugeschnitten ist. Es war sehr schwer da einen Ansatz zu finden wie man den altbewärten Chemiecocktail aufpimpen kann um die bestehenden Massen in die richtige RIchtung zu pushen. Die Lösung lag darin das ich alles was auch verspricht eine 'formbare Masse' zu sein organisiere, analysiere und teste...

Hier seht Ihr erste Ergebnisse der Tests. Ausgegangen bin ich jeweils von einer Drahtschlaufe in einem Korken. Ohne weiteres vormodellieren habe ich die neu entwickelte Masse aufgetragen...

Teilweise sind die Büsten unfertig.

Sculpting eyes, the alien-way...

Ok. let me try to explain. The Problem is if you sculpt a skull-like phantom as an armature for a head it is difficult to sculpt in the eys in the right position, because of the bonestructure you have done as your armature. So why you dont sculpt they eys before you add the brawbones ? This is the first time I have tried this technique. Its cool and simpel. But the first try was a big fail, becaus I have tried the "bröckelig bröseligen Scheiß Mist" Supersculpy Firm Gray. Dam, how the hell some of you out there can make anything out of this stuff.... - ... I also can ;-), but it cost to much time to get it in shape. I want to sculpt, I dont want to fight with the putty... But enough bashing firm brittle sculpy. Take a look on what I have had in my mind for sculpting eys. The techniqe is good - I have to optimize it... Keep an eye open... I would thank the Universe for the moment I invented my beesputty mixture, here is the scond try in beesputty...

here you find some WIP shots of sculpt I did yesterday afternoon. I have planned to do something videolike for youtube but we have had around 37°C so I decided to go in oure garden take a cool drink and let the wax melt trough my fingers :-) ... I am a professional sculptor since 13 years now (that means I make a living form that since :-)). But yesterday was a day on wich i had invented a new technique for me. Sculpting eys is always a point of discussion. I have tried so many techniques. But the simple and best idea has come into my mind on a doggy walk, many thanx to SAM and PAUL. More on this subject in my next post, with pictures ... :-)

StudioworX Rubbertips preview 2...

These days are really full of work :-) Thats good for me but bad for you... But Today I got some houres to get a long waiting project a boost. I have everything ready to produce the StudioworX Rubbertips. There will be many different usages. First there are some for sculpting. The material at the tooltip is an elastic rubberlike material. Its flexability allows you to smooth the surface of the sculpture, already known from some similar products for painting. The difference is that oure tools are special designd for miniaturesculpting and they are superfine...

The tool thats shown is some of my favorite. You can do so many techniqes with it. You can use it for curly hair for fur tu create organic shapes. The shown template is only a preview. If we release this tool I will make a vidcast to show you all its advantages.

The other is a rivet tool. A what ? "A rivet tool - noone needs a revit tool". thats the always the reaction I got. There are many tut's out there to make rivets, form glue them on or what ever. I never was stisfied with any of these techniqes. So I have done my own. Here it is. You will get some tools for rivets in different diameters and also in different shapes. The big advantage is that it works fast and clean. Its like a little mould on the tip of the tool, so every rivit looks the same. (1) Put some putty on the area where to put your rivet. (2) Lubricant your tool and press it on the putty. (3) Remove the overlaying putty with a sharp knive and your done...

Keep an eye on the release. We are waiting for the wooden handles. Soin the near future everyhing is here and we can release a big bunch of useful tools...

After a long time I am now proud to show you some of my secret tools. Straight out of my wired sculptingworld. The SciFi tube tools in 3 sizes...

Sculpting segmented tubes has always given sculptors a hard time. It is possible to make a long roll and to cut little lines in in laborious work. Long experiments and braingrease made me think of this simple but effective tool. It just took me some time to technically translate what I had thought of. The tool is made in three different sizes. The way of working is very simple. With the backside of the tool just roll up a long sausage/roll in the desired diameter. Then place it on the checkered side of the tool plate. Use the table as stopper/guide and with help of the second segment of the tool texture your roll. Place it on the table again and if nescessary roll over it with the plain side of the tool again. It is possible to put a wire inbetween too. The different sizes can be combined, so with a little practise you can do great tubes and ribbed pipes in various diameters.

With the plain back you can roll a tube wit the diameter you like...
To get a eaqual diameter put one side on the table...

Put the tube on the riffeled surface...

To get a realle cool tube take the plain back ang roll it carefully over the tube again...

Thank you all for joining oure Beta-Test of the beesputty. As a conclusion the result is that we are not ready for market. Some properties are not as good as wanted, so back to the drawing board. We want a revolutionary product, so we will start a new try. I will keep you updated with the results...

Some small step ahead is the develpement of the sculptingtools. I have found a company who is able to do us primed handles from damson plums wood, some really noble handles...

After trying so long to get a good, I mean a really good, anatomical action figure which is posable in nearly any position, i have to do it by myself. I have also tryed to make good an tiny jonts for posing, but I think the key is in get some good mini and cast it in a posable firm wax so you can do adjustments and you can have more than one pose for reference... Also I will sell a resinversion for intersted ones just for sculpting or drawing reference... Here it comes the frst WIP shot and a shot on my cleand up desk ;-) ... (Deskpics are always very inspiring I think)...

Its been a while, since my last post. Many things have turned. We have moved house and studio twice during the last six month. But now at the new location I have a great huge Worksop-Atelier...
Also I have searched a new internet nick. Thats not easy to get something originelly. But I have take my real name ant have googeld its meaning. So, "Stefan" stands for "Crown" and "Bernhard" for "Bear" - thats it, just the same name with a better sound... :-)

I have many plans, many work to do, but I want to share more of my work no the net. I have seen a thread of sculpting a minibust a day. This was very inspiring for me and I have decide to try it. Sometimes if I have the time I will post a vidcast of the day on youtube.

New Masquerade Miniatures

I got so many emails that my blog should be in english. So I will try to get it a bit international. English is not my mothers language so you have to excuse if the grammar is not right at all.

So here are the new Masquerade Miniatures, direct from my workbench. The Barbarian Hero needs to be cutted and finished. Its just 1-2 houres of work.

The Gandamole is the 4th in the 'Masquerade, home of the MOLE' range.

Also I have added the New minis from latst month...

Tools N Stuff Neuheiten bei Masquerade Miniaturen

Ab sofort gibt es in unserem Webshop nur noch die neuen Modellierwerkzeuge als 3er Set.

Desweiteren gibt es den Superhandschutz pr88 bei uns. Diese Handschutzcreme benutze ich immer beim Modellieren. Da ich eine Epoxyallergie habe kann ich eigendlich nicht mit reizenden Massen arbeiten. Jeder der mal versucht hat mit Handschuhen zu modellieren dem ist aufgefallen das das ein NOGO ist. Hier bietet pr88 den gewünschten Schutz. Nach der Arbeit einfach mit Wasser abspülen.

Noch eine Neuheit sind die Profischleifmatten

Ein guter Freund von mir ist ein sehr begabter Karikarurrist. Es brannt mir schon lange unter den Nägeln eine seiner "Karries" in ein 3D Modell zu verwandeln. Am Sonntag kam der Sommer zurück - So saß ich da im eigenem Saft und heckte mal wieder etwas aus. Meine Frau hat dieses fototechnisch festgehalten.

WetClay (Unschamottierter Ton) ca 3,5h nicht wirklich ausmodelliert...

Hallo,

Der angedachte Modellierworkshop nimmt nun endlich feste Züge an.

Ich habe ein Datum und eine Räumlichkeit gefunden.

Es soll ein 2 Tages Wochenendseminar werden. Am 11+12 2007 August, Sa 9 h und So 7h...

Ort ist 45731 Waltrop(neben Dortmund), wahrscheinlich im Atellier der ortsansessigen VHS.

Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten gibt es bei den örtlichen Hotels und Gaststätten.

Der Kostenbeitrag beträgt für beide Tage 120 Euro pro Person. (Inklusive einem Werkzeug, Material und des Zinnabgusses)

Ich spreche mit jedem Kursteilnehmer vorher per mail den Iststand ab, um mir einen Überblick zu verschaffen.

Ziel des 2 Tages Seminars soll sein, eine komplett selber modellierte Figur welche (im Preis inbegriffen) in Zinn abgegossen wird.

Bitte um baldige Anmeldung, da die Anzahl Plätze begrenzt ist...

Tabletop Resin Bäume

Hallo Allerseits...

Zum Modellierworkshop sei kurz zu sagen, ich suche immer noch die passenden Räumlichkeiten... Also falls eine(r) von euch eine Möglichkeit hat an einen Seminarraum mit Preisgünstigen Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten zu kommen, bitte melden...

Ich habe mich schon seit langem mit mit dem Gedanken von Bäumen für Tabletopzwecke, welche nicht nach Eisenbahn aussehen, gequält. Auf dem Bild seht ihr meinen ersten Prototypen.

Dieser Baum besteht aus einem Stamm und 6 gleichen Blätterkronen welche zu einer zusammengeklebt wurden.

Als Verkaufsversion würde ich das so machen, das es erstmal 3 verschiedene Stämme und 3- 5 verschiedene Blattkronengrößen gibt. Das Ganze aus Resin...

Lasst euch mal überraschen, ist schon so gut wie fertig... :-)

Der erste Workshop

Aufgrund der Nachfrage habe ich mich entschlossen diesen Blog zu eröffnen. Wer also Interesse hat an einem ModellierworkShop teilzunehmen sollte hier Kommentare schreiben oder sich an info@modellierworkshop.de wenden.

So soll das Ganze aussehen:

Ein Wochenendseminar, Samstag und Sonntag jeweils 8h Powermodellieren...

Thema Tag1:

Grundlagen des Miniaturendesigns, Keine Praxis ohne Theorie ...Anatomie
Der schnelle Einstieg durch ein paar leichte Fingerübungen
Das Gesicht, Die Fingerübungen nehmen Gestallt an
Die Wunschfigur ... Soweit mich die Hände bringen :-)

Thema Tag2:

Manöverkritik ... oder was könnte ich besser machen
Waffendesign
Die Figur, soweit es geht fertigstellen

Ihr solltet euch für diese 2 Tage kein Superhero mit kiloweise Gedöns raussuchen.
Eine einfache Figur, einen Zauberer mit Staab oder einen Abenteurer...

Das solltest Du mitbringen: (Falls nicht vorhanden, können die Materialien bei mir erworben werden)

ein gewisses Maß an Geduld
Modelliermasse deiner Wahl (ich preferiere ProCreate und Tamiya Putty)
Korken
Silberdraht 0.8mm
Zangen, Printschneider und Flachzange
Modellierwerkzeug

Der erste Wokshop soll im Raum Frankfurt stattfinden. Über den Kostenbeitrag, Unterbringung usw. mache ich mich gerade schlau...
